When I first started blogging I really didn’t know where to start, how to monetize my efforts and where to look first! It all was a bit overwhelming and everyone had different ideas and different opinions on what you should do, what you shouldn’t do. Where to focus, where to market and all the rest in between that goes along with it! So, I thought I would put together this real simple, quick post on the best affiliate programs you should start with as a new blogger monetizing your site and your blogging efforts! If there are any I have not mentioned I would love to hear all about them below!
Firstly, what is affiliate marketing?
If you are reading this I am assuming you have a good idea what affiliate marketing already is, so I won’t bore you with a long-winded description! To keep it simple, you promote products on your blog, website and/or social media. You share links to the products associated with the companies and when someone buys through your link you earn a commission. That’s it! So, which affiliate companies should you start with…
The thing I love so much about Amazon is that they literally sell everything! There is nothing they do not have. So whatever your niche, they will have something available for you to talk about, promote, sell and embed on your blog or website. It’s suitable for all things business related and personal so it’s defo a big winner from me!
Shop style collective is so easy to use that it makes it a great start for a lifestyle and fashion blogger. They make it super easy to create a ‘look’ with their widget creator and embed tools for your website and blog! I use ShopStyle a lot on Pinterest and find it super easy and straightforward to do. It takes very little time and you can start seeing income trickle through pretty fast.
Top cash back can literally be used anywhere online, I have got cash back from my holidays, cinema, food shopping…! I have gained hundreds of pounds back before even starting my blog! When you sign up they also give you the option to refer your friends and family, and you can set up your bank card with your account, which means that in some stores you can get cashback automatically.
Blue host is an online hosting company and offer hosting and domains. They have a great commission offering and obviously, anyone who has an online business or is setting up a blog is going to need to buy a domain and website hosting! This one was a no-brainer for me in my business as I work with female entrepreneurs and I am always getting asked who to buy domains from and how to set up a website!
Overall I think the best thing to do when seeking out affiliate companies to work with is to first think about the companies that you are already using and reaching out to them to see if they have a referral program. You only really want to be sharing companies that you already know like, trust and use yourself and keep it authentic. Are there any more than you are using that I have not mentioned here? Let us know in the comments below, I would love to hear how you monetize your blogging and what results you are getting.
