1. PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY

This Certification Standards & Assessment Policy explains how competency is assessed across all Yes I Can Method certification programmes and what is required to achieve certification.

This policy applies to all certification programmes, including but not limited to:

  • NLP Practitioner
  • NLP Master Practitioner
  • Time Line Therapy® Practitioner
  • Hypnotherapy Practitioner
  • EFT Practitioner
  • Breakthrough Coaching Certification
  • Yes I Can Method Practitioner
  • Yes I Can Method Master Practitioner

2. PRINCIPLES OF ASSESSMENT

Our certification process is designed to ensure that all certified practitioners demonstrate:

  • Practical competence
  • Ethical understanding
  • Safe and appropriate use of techniques
  • Ability to apply tools effectively with clients
  • Professional communication standards

Assessment is based on demonstrated ability, not attendance alone.

3. ASSESSMENT COMPONENTS

Depending on the programme, assessment may include:

  • Live practical demonstrations
  • Role-play exercises
  • Coaching practice sessions
  • Verbal questioning
  • Written or reflective tasks
  • Participation in group exercises
  • Observation during training

Not all programmes require all assessment types.

4. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To achieve certification, students must:

  • Attend all required training sessions
  • Participate actively in practical exercises
  • Demonstrate understanding of core techniques
  • Apply methods appropriately in practice sessions
  • Meet the minimum competency standard set by the training team

Certification is awarded when the assessor is satisfied that competency has been demonstrated.

5. COMPETENCY STANDARD

A student will be considered competent when they demonstrate:

  • Correct application of taught techniques
  • Appropriate client communication and rapport skills
  • Ethical and safe practice
  • Ability to follow structured processes accurately
  • Understanding of when to use and when not to use techniques

We assess readiness for certification based on professional practitioner standards, not perfection.

6. ASSESSMENT OUTCOMES

Assessment may result in one of the following outcomes:

6.1 Certified

The student has met all required standards and is awarded certification.

6.2 Not Yet Certified (Further Development Required)

The student has not yet demonstrated full competency.

In this case, we may offer:

  • Additional practice opportunities
  • Further training or support
  • A reassessment opportunity at a later date

6.3 Deferred Assessment

Where appropriate, assessment may be paused due to:

  • Absence from training
  • Personal circumstances
  • Insufficient opportunity to demonstrate skills

The student may be reassessed at a future date.

7. REASSESSMENT POLICY

Where reassessment is offered:

  • Students will be given clear feedback on areas for improvement
  • A reassessment opportunity may be scheduled
  • Additional training may be required before reassessment

Reassessment does not guarantee certification.

8. FAIRNESS AND CONSISTENCY

We aim to ensure that all assessments are:

  • Fair
  • Consistent
  • Based on clearly defined criteria
  • Conducted by trained assessors

Where possible, assessment decisions may be moderated by senior trainers to ensure consistency.

9. APPEALS

If a student believes an assessment decision was incorrect, they may submit an appeal in line with our Complaints & Appeals Policy.

Appeals will only be considered where there is:

  • Evidence of procedural error
  • Evidence of bias or unfair treatment
  • New relevant information not previously considered

Disagreement with the outcome alone is not sufficient grounds for appeal.

10. ATTENDANCE AND CERTIFICATION

Attendance alone does not guarantee certification.

However, attendance at required training sessions is mandatory in order to be eligible for assessment.

Failure to attend required sessions may result in:

  • Delayed certification
  • Requirement to join a future cohort
  • Ineligibility for assessment

11. ETHICAL PRACTICE REQUIREMENT

All students are expected to demonstrate:

  • Ethical behaviour
  • Respect for client confidentiality
  • Safe use of techniques
  • Professional conduct in group settings

We reserve the right to withhold certification where ethical standards are not met.

12. FINAL CERTIFICATION DECISION

The final decision to award certification rests with the training and assessment team acting on behalf of Rebecca Lockwood Consultancy Ltd.

All decisions are made based on evidence of competency at the time of assessment.

13. NO GUARANTEE OF CERTIFICATION

Enrolment in a certification programme does not guarantee successful completion or certification.

Certification is awarded only where required standards are met.

14. POLICY REVIEW

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect improvements in training, assessment or regulatory requirements.

The most current version will always be available on our websites.

15. GOVERNING LAW

This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
